In most cases, I only need less than ten minutes of actually photographing with one person, five minutes if there is a tight time frame.  I pride myself on being quick and efficient by being able to get the best out of a person in a short amount of time.  A great deal more time goes into pre-production (travel, setting up lighting, and breaking down the set) and post-production (editing, uploading, custom retouching, and digital delivery).

Check out this blog post that answers this question in detail.

If I am coming to your location (ex. your office), I need a room at least 20′ x 10′.  A typical conference room will work.  I will take care of all the lighting.  A room with windows is preferable but not absolutely necessary.

You can use your professional headshot images anywhere you want. Unlimited usage rights are provided with every session.  Feel free to use your images on your web site, blog, business cards, social media sites (LinkedIn, Google+, Twitter, Facebook, etc.), advertisements, speaking engagement posters, marketing materials, etc.

Yes, 90% of the professionals I photograph are on location, mostly at their offices.  My clients find this extremely convenient.  There is no need to travel, allowing you and/or your team members to maximize the use of your/their time.  If you choose to an outdoor city or natural background, we can meet on location.  I know of some great areas to shoot for those types of backgrounds.  If you would like to come to my home in Reading, just 15 miles north of Boston, that works for me too.  However, I typically only photograph individuals at my home, not groups larger than three people, due to the limited space.

Of course.  Just let me know if you require a W9 for your accounts payable department, and I will send it off to you.

I typically require 50% of the total fee to reserve a session, and the remaining 50% after the day of or after the shoot date.  The types of payments I accept are: check, cash, all major credit cards, and EFT.  Secure payments made with credit or debit cards can be made online through PayPal (you do not need a PayPal account to send a payment through PayPal).

Yes.  If you booked a session online through my web site, you can easily reschedule any time up to 24 hours prior to the session.  I understand that professionals are busy and schedules can change and do my best to accommodate my clients.

My satisfaction guarantee means simply that I want you to be happy with the images we created together.  If for any reason you are not satisfied with the images from your session, I would be happy to schedule another session.  We will work together to make sure you have images you are proud of.  One note: I am proud to say that after 17 years of photographing thousands of executives, I may have had two re-shoots.

I simply use professional equipment (cameras, lenses, lighting, etc.)  These are simply tools, and the equipment does not make a talented photographer.  There are so many things that make a professional a master of his or her craft (experience, personality, problem solving skills, etc.).  The equipment is important but not the most important.  I love the analogy of a master chef.  You don’t really care what type of pan or knife they are using; you just want the food to taste delicious.  I just want you to have great headshot images you can be proud of.

Typical retouching includes removing stray hairs, softening any bags under eyes, skin blemishes, lint on clothing, evening skin color, shine, and subtle teeth whitening (if requested).  Sometimes, we all need a little help. ; )

You have probably heard the saying, “It’s not about quantity, it’s quality.”  Well, that certainly applies to this question.  However, I typically share 15-20 images per person on his or her online preview gallery.  I take many more during the session, but there will always be those images where there were blinks or images that I know are not worthy of even being considered to be used as a final choice.  Every image I take is not going to be great, but after photographing professional headshots for over 17 years, my average is pretty high, and I will not finish a session with someone unless I know I have a good selection of great images for a client to choose from.

You can download any and all of the images from the session presented in the online previews gallery.  These are the full size high resolution color correct image files in a JPG format.  The fully retouched high resolution images that are included with the session fee are delivered in a JPG format as well.

I keep all of your images, as well as the fully retouched ordered images, on file forever (or as long as I am still breathing).  If you misplace your images, I will be happy to send them along again for you to download.  Rest assured, I have a redundant back up system for all of my client’s image files.

It takes up to two business days to retouch and deliver the image(s) you ordered.

Yes, your session fee includes the right to reproduce, publish, or anything else you would like to do with the images from your session.

Yes, I maintain liability insurance.  If you, your company, or commercial landlord requires a copy of the liability insurance certificate, please let me know.

Yes, if you choose a white or gray solid background, I will bring it to your location.

I would be happy to travel to your location for the session anywhere within 60 miles of Boston.  If you would like me to travel further for a session, please let me know. I’ll be happy to provide you a custom quote.

98% of the people in the executive headshot photographs you see on my site did not have a professional make up artist or hair stylist.  After my clients make their choices for the final images they would like retouched, we begin making the image the best it can.  We remove any stray hairs and blemishes, soften the skin a little, lighten those bags under the eyes, etc.  In short, we make our clients look their best–not over retouched–using professional imaging software.  If you insist on using a hair and makeup artist, I would be happy to suggest a very talented long time colleague and friend.

Nearly all of my clients receive high resolution JPEG files.  These are large files ready for all types of printed marketing collateral.  I also provide smaller optimal web size versions of the final retouched images.  If you need a different digital format (ex. tiff, psd, png, etc.), I can do that as well.  If you are confused on what types of file formats you need and are working with a designer or web developer, I’m happy to communicate with him or her to make sure they get what they need.

One business day after the session, you will receive a link via email to a password protected gallery of all the usable images from your session.  I do remove and delete any images that are totally unusable (blinks, unflattering expressions, etc.)  From this online gallery, you can download any and all of the unretouched high resolution images.  On average, an individual executive can expect anywhere between 15-25 images to choose from; it could be more or less, but there are so many variables that determine the final number of images are provided to chose from.  The bottom line: I provide you with  variety of quality images to choose from.  Please remember the old adage, “It’s about quality, not quantity.”

Yes.  Photographing in a RAW format ensures that you get the best quality images possible.  Everything image I photograph is in a RAW format and processed using Abode’s most up to date software.

Yes.  I have photographed hundreds of corporate events over the span of my 17 year career.  I have long time  corporate event clients that trust me to capture great images of their events every year.  Please visit my corporate event photographer Boston web site for more information.

Typically, two fully retouched high resolution professional headshot images are included per person, unless otherwise noted.  You can download ANY and ALL of the unretouched images from the session on the preview gallery provided following the session.  If you would like more than two retouched high resolution images, additional ones are only $20 each.

Yes, clients of mine can download ANY and ALL of the unretouched images from the session from the password protected preview gallery web page.

95% of all my clients prefer me to come to their location, typically their office, so they can save their valuable time to get back to doing business.  I do offer the option of having clients come to my home in Reading, just 10 miles north of Boston, if they prefer.  I can successfully photograph individuals at my home just as I would at his or her office location. So no, I do not have an official fancy studio.  However, my home is open to you if you would like a professional executive headshot.

I typically need only 30-40 to scout a location and set up lighting equipment to make you headshot images look great.

I will send you an online preview gallery via email within one business day following your session.

“It’s very important to use a professional picture in your LinkedIn profile. First impressions are very important and people will judge you within a few seconds when they see your LinkedIn profile. Save your casual pictures for Facebook and Twitter.”

“As the headshot has escalated in importance, special attention ought to be paid to the selection of your pose, wardrobe and facial expression. A thoughtful, pleasing portrait instantaneously enhances you, pulls people in and motivates them to learn more about you. A poorly composed, pixilated or unflattering photo will quickly deflate visitors to your page. No image whatsoever is a deal-breaker. People don’t do business with ghosts.”
